This year on #GivingTuesday, which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, consider making a contribution to one or both of the charitable funds below. Contributions made to the MNEA Charitable Fund and CHEER Fund may be tax deductible depending on if you itemize. Rest assured knowing that 100% of your contribution will go to help educators like yourself and students in need—no money is used for administrative costs.
Hope Fund
Through its Humanitarian Outreach Project for Education Fund, Missouri NEA assists members, students, and schools.
The HOPE Fund is designed to provide relief to victims of natural disasters; relief to the poor, distressed or underprivileged; and research and implementation of projects that address critical needs in education. The HOPE fund also provides financial assistance for educational-related supplies to schools that have been damaged or destroyed by fire or natural disaster.
CHEER FUND
Caring Help for Education Endeavors by Retirees was formed by MNEA-Retired to be a public benefit by enhancing the learning conditions of Missouri's children. CHEER will provide opportunities for MNEA-Retired members to reach out to public school district employees, particularly early career educators, and provide financial and material resources such as, but not limited to the following:
- Providing needed school supplies for classrooms or teachers.
- Enhancing workspaces for teachers and school personnel.
- Funding literacy projects.
- Funding teacher training opportunities.
- Promoting volunteerism.
- Participating in programs that relieve poverty.
- Promoting school readiness.
